Recommended Towing Specifications

Towing Vehicle:  Most vehicles can tow our trailers. To ensure yours is safe please look up your vehicles maximum towing capacity in your owners manual. We recommend that you do not pull anything that is over 75% of the stated maximum.  Please consult your local dealership if in doubt.

Hitch:  Cars, Vans and Trucks must have a Class 2 (or higher) hitch with a 2 inch ball. The ball must be approximately 16 inches from the ground to allow for a safe easy pull.

Trailer Weight: Most of our trailers weigh 2090 lbs. when empty and can weigh a maximum of 2450lbs. when packed and loaded with water and supplies.

Trailer Brakes: All our Tent Trailers are equipped with electric trailer brakes. Although not always mandatory we recommend that you take advantage and use these brakes by having a trailer brake controller installed into your car.

If your vehicle weights less than 5000 lbs you must have fully operational electronic trailer braking system with a controller at all times.

Wiring:   A flat 4 or 7 point RV plug with standard wiring is needed to tow and operate pout trailers. If needed we will loan plug adapters at a minimal charge. Most standard wiring allows the vehicles alternator to charge both vehicles and trailer battery on long drives.

Transmission Cooler: An auxiliary cooler that is available to provide extra cooling for automatic transmission fluid. Lower temperatures equal longer transmission life. We recommend a transmission cooler to be installed if you are pulling our trailers through the mountains or have a smaller towing vehicle. A transmission shop can give you the best advice.

It is the renter’s responsibility to meet all safety and legal requirements regarding the towing and operation of our rental trailers.
